About

After cha cha fueled debauchery at a bus station Georgian diner, eating sheep lung at an Uygur restaurant in Zeytinburnu, and other non-Turkish and eye-opening ethnic eating experiences, we decided to make a blog that’s dedicated to non-Turkish restaurants in Istanbul.

We bring you more of the whole-in-the-wall joints where real minority communities in Istanbul go to dine, and less of the watered-down, safe European food and fake sushi that passes for yabancı yemekleri here. With more than 15 years combined experience living here, we (Chris, Ezra and Sean) are looking past the döners and the mezzes for the lesser known, real cosmopolitan food scene of Istanbul.
